ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020: Team of the Tournament
As many as five players from Australia's title-winning squad feature in the ICC Women's World Cup T20 Team of the Tournament. The XI is captained by Meg Lanning, who led Australia from the front and was also instrumental with the bat. Australia thrashed India in the final on Sunday to claim their fifth T20 World Cup title. Healy and Mooney lead the batting attack
The likes of Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney tormented the Indian bowling line-up with a 115-run stand in the final. Mooney finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament, while the former followed her in the tally. The duo is joined by England's Natalie Sciver and Heather Knight. Lanning, who guided Australia to victory, serves the middle order alongside Laura Wolvaardt.
Healy gets the wicket-keeping role
Alyssa Healy not only proved her mettle with the bat in the tournament, she also was phenomenal behind the stumps. The Australian opener registered 236 runs in six innings at an average of 39.33. Besides, she recorded seven dismissals with the gloves (three catches, four stumpings) in as many innings. She was only behind India's Taniya Bhatia who had ten dismissals to her name.
Megan Schutt spearheads the bowling attack
Australia's Megan Schutt spearheads the pace attack in the playing XI. She had the most number of wickets (13) in six games. Schutt pairs up with fellow seamer Anya Shrubsole in the line-up. Poonam Yadav is the only Indian featuring in the team as she took 10 wickets in five matches. The other two spinners are Jess Jonassen and Sophie Ecclestone.
