Indian women's hockey team loses 1-4 to Spain
The Indian women's hockey team suffered a thumping defeat in match number four of the 5-match bi-lateral series. Indian women went down 1-4 against the hosts Spain. Lola Riera scored a brace for Spain with goals from Lucia Jimenez and Carmen Cano aiding the cause. India's lone goal came in the 22nd minute courtesy of a brilliant strike from Udita.
Quick-fire goals from Spain dent India's hopes
Spanish women looked in fine touch, as they went up 2-0 in the first 20 minutes of the fixture. Lola Riera converted a penalty corner in the 10th minute, while, Lucia Jimenez finished off a brilliant move to take the score to 2-0.
Udita scored India's only goal
India struck back with the help of Udita in the 22nd minute. However, it was India's lone goal of the fixture. Spain didn't hold back in the third quarter scoring for the third time via a penalty corner. In the 37 minute, Carmen Cano rounded things up by deflecting a cross into the back of the net.
India look to level series
India are now trailing the 5 match series 1-2, after losing the first game and then drawing the second before winning the third tie of the series. Rani Rampal and her girls still have a chance to draw level in the series. These two sides would meet in the fifth and final match of the series on Monday.
