Gary Kirsten and Herschelle Gibbs are two high-profile overseas names.
10 names to appear for the interview on Thursday
Besides the trio of Powar, Gibbs and Gary, a total of seven others will appear for the interview in Mumbai. The list includes the likes of, WV Raman, Venkatesh Prasad, Manoj Prabhakar, Trent Johnston, Mark Coles, Dimitri Mascarenhas and Brad Hogg. Candidates will be interviewed by an ad-hoc panel, which comprises of ex-India players like Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.
RCB coach Kirsten a leading name
Kirsten could be one of the leading candidates for the women's cricket team coaching job. The former Proteas man had led the Indian men's team to a successful World Cup victory in 2011. Kirsten also coached South Africa from 2011-2013. If Kirsten gets the job, then he will have to leave IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore, as nobody can hold two positions simultaneously.
Powar could be overlooked
The selection controversy surrounding veteran cricketer, Mithali Raj, could affect Powar's fortunes. The way he handled the issue surrounding Raj displayed his lack of experience. The internal matters of the team became public, which ultimately led to Powar's contract not being made permanent. He played a part in dropping Mithali from the semi-final match against England in the WT20.

The next coach should have the ability to handle issues within closed doors. Further, the person should be able to command respect and stand tall against outside influence. An experienced head is needed to calm the ship and help them perform at the international level.
