Wisden Leading Cricketer 2019: Ben Stokes bags the award
England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been named as the Leading Cricketer in the World in the recently published 2020 edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. The 28-year-old, who led England to their maiden World Cup title, has been rewarded for his all-round contribution in the year 2019. Jofra Archer, Pat Cummins, Simon Harmer, Marnus Labuschagne and Ellyse Perry were named the Cricketers of the Year.

"Ben Stokes pulled off the performance of a lifetime. With a mixture of outrageous talent and good fortune, he rescued England's run-chase in the World Cup final, before helping to hit 15 off the super over," said Wisden's editor, Lawrence Booth.
Ellyse Perry named Leading Woman Cricketer
All-rounder Ellyse Perry was named Leading Woman Cricketer in the World. She is the seventh women's cricketer and first from overseas to bag this honour. "Ellyse Perry dominated the women's Ashes like no one before her, inspiring Australia to a crushing victory," Booth said. "She was devastating with the ball, claiming seven for 22 in the ODI at Canterbury, and remorseless with the bat."
Russell showed his all-round attributes in 2019
Wisden named West Indies' Andre Russell the leading T20 player in the world. The all-rounder bamboozled the bowlers in the previous IPL edition with his monstrous hitting. He racked up 510 runs in 13 innings at an average of 56.67. He also smashed most number of sixes (52), having finished with an astronomical strike rate of 204.82. With the ball, Russell scalped 11 wickets.
Wisden picks the iconic World Cup final moment for cover
The Almanack featured the remarkable moment of 2019 World Cup final on its cover, when Jos Buttler dislodged the bails in order to run out New Zealand's Martin Guptill on the final delivery. Jofra Archer, who is one of the Wisden's Five Cricketers, bowled the historic over. England were crowned World Champions (50-over WC) for the first time in history of cricket.
