Williamson and Conway's partnership dominates South Africa
Despite South Africa posting a daunting 304, thanks to Matthew Breetzke's debut 150, Team New Zealand wasn't perturbed.
Conway and Williamson took full advantage of South Africa's inexperienced bowling and added a mammoth stand.
"The pitch was definitely a better surface [to bat] today," Williamson said. He also spoke about how the pitch changed throughout the day, saying it "came onto the bat quite nicely" but still took some turn.

Williamson reflects on upcoming Champions Trophy
Looking ahead to the Champions Trophy, Williamson admitted extra game time is a blessing but warned against overconfidence.
He said every game is different and unpredictable in a tournament like the Champions Trophy.
"Obviously playing one day cricket here when other teams haven't probably been playing a huge amount of one day cricket is nice," he said.
"It helps us to try and get as familiar as you can with our roles and how we operate as a unit."
