#IPL2019: Yuvraj sets his base price at Rs. 1 crore
Veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has set his base price for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 auction at Rs. 1 crore. The southpaw was released by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL trade window after just one season. Besides Yuvi, last season's million dollar man, Jaydev Unadkat set his base price at Rs. 1.5 crore. Here is more on the same.
Will Yuvraj Singh find any buyers?
Yuvi was below-par last season and was a shadow of himself. He did not help KXIP's cause in the matches he played. In 8 matches, Yuvraj amassed just 65 runs and slowed down proceedings. So now the question arises, will the star batsman, who has been ignored by the Indian cricket team, find any buyers? Yuvraj could most likely be ignored by the franchises.
Other star Indian names with Rs. 1 crore base price
Besides Yuvraj, several other Indians enter the auction at a base price of Rs. 1 crore. According to reports, the likes of Mohammad Shami, Axar Patel and Wriddhiman Saha all set their prices at Rs. 1 crore. The trio were released by their respective franchises last month. Their performances have not been strong and it will be a decisive auction for them.
Unadkat a prime focus in the auction
Jaydev Unadkat was the surprise package last season when it came to the auction. The left-arm pacer was purchased for Rs. 11.5 crore by the Rajasthan Royals. But after a disappointing campaign, the franchise decided to axe the player. Unadkat could draw a substantial bid this time as well, although he is unlikely to fetch the sum he got last season.
Australian duo Maxi and Finch opt out of auction
Meanwhile, with Cricket Australia setting important guidelines for its players to participate in IPL 2019, the likes of Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell have decided to opt out of the auction. They want to focus on the ICC World Cup 2019 instead.
Curran, McCullum keep their base price at Rs. 2 crore
Reports claim that several players have set their base price at Rs. 2 crore. These include the likes of England all-rounder Sam Curran, who is expected to be a hot property in the auction. Other players in Rs. 2 crore bracket are Corey Anderson, Colin Ingram, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Angelo Mathews, Brendon McCullum, D'Arcy Short and Chris Woakes. That's a packed unit.
