#IndiaInEngland: 5 reasons why Virat Kohli would perform in England
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli had an awful Test series, last time, he toured England. But, in the upcoming tour, he could set his record straight. India will lock horns with England in 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs before they play the epic 5-match Test series. Here are 5 reasons why Virat Kohli would be one of India's best performers.
Will be prepared to stick out in the testing conditions
The 5-match Test series against England, in 2014, was Kohli's maiden tour and he was not familiar with the conditions. He struggled against the swinging ball with James Anderson accounting for his wickets consistently. Kohli wanted to prepare well for 2018 tour, but missed out on the County stint due to a neck injury. But the T20Is and ODIs will help him adjust.
Captain Kohli is a better performer than player Kohli
Captaincy has helped Kohli transform into a better batsman. The knowledge imparted by ex-skipper Dhoni has done him a world of good. Under Kohli, India have done well across all three formats with the skipper coming out strong and scoring the bulk of runs. He is a player who loves taking responsibility. It is a well known fact that he performs better under pressure.
Can Kohli feed on England's Test weaknesses?
England may have been doing wonders in ODIs after being the number one side. But when it comes to Tests, they have failed miserably in last 12 months. Kohli would feed on the same and make England pay. England suffered in the Ashes as well as against Kiwis, before drawing the series against Pakistan. English bowling hasn't been world class which would benefit Kohli.
A solid team gives Kohli the cushion
This Indian squad has several match-winners and, for the first time, has a lethal pace attack. They have been in top gear at home where India have won everything. English conditions might test this side. But having said that, one expects them to stand strong and give their all. Kohli will be much more confident this time around, knowing his side can do wonders.
His technique has improved
Kohli had acknowledged, post the 2014 series, that it was his technique against the pacers which let him down. 134 runs in 10 innings was the lowest point of his career. But now, Kohli has rectified the mistakes and has scored runs in Australia, South Africa and West Indies. The match-winning knocks, outside Asia, will give him the confidence to perform against England.
