There was hope that Paul Pogba will settle his differences with Jose Mourinho and help this Manchester United team to become a force to reckon with. But 8 matches into the season, and there are rumors that the Frenchman wants to depart. Probably, the last straw was Pogba being stripped of vice-captaincy. Pogba could be tempted to join Barca
Pogba would have wanted to etch his name at Old Trafford, but the issues with manager can force him to switch pastures. Barca are one club interested in acquiring the Frenchman. Reportedly, a bid was rejected in the summer by United. Pogba could be tempted to go to Spain and start afresh there with a top European club.
Relation with Jose at a new low
The two have had a fractious relationship since last season. When Pogba was made vice-captain this term and also handed the captain's arm-band in the absence of Antonio Valencia, it looked like they have moved past the bad phase. But, after the draw against Wolves, Pogba claimed United need to attack more at home. And it didn't go well with Jose.
Where will Pogba fit at Barca?
Pogba, a great holding mid-fielder, is in his prime right now, and his talent can give Barcelona a huge boost. Barcelona have a rich mid-field and it remains to be seen (if and) where will Pogba fit. He could no doubt become the flag bearer of the club. But if Barca want to acquire his services, they will have to break the bank.
United have got off to a poor start in 2018-19
Jose won three trophies in his maiden year at United. He also led them to their best ever finish (2nd) in EPL, since the departure of Sir Alex. United, no doubt, are a work in progress. This season is crucial for Jose and so far the start has gone awry. He needs to change fortunes soon, else he risks losing Pogba or/and his job.
