#IPL2019: Players who might be playing their final season
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 will start in March. The upcoming 12th edition of the cash-rich league might see a few mega stars bidding adieu to the tournament. There are several veteran players out there, but time could be catching up soon. Here are 5 players who might be playing their last season.
Harbhajan Singh - CSK
Harbhajan Singh is one of the most successful players to have graced the IPL. He has won 4 IPL titles in his career. The former Mumbai Indians player was bought by Chennai Super Kings last season. After winning IPL 2018, Bhajji was retained by the franchise. The 38-year-old has played 149 IPL matches and this season could see the last of the ace spinner.
Yuvraj Singh - MI
Mumbai Indians handed Yuvraj Singh a breathing space in the recently concluded IPL 2019 Auction. Yuvraj, who didn't find any takers for most part of the evening, was finally snapped up by MI. Yuvi will be looking to prove critics wrong and show that even at 37, he still has the character. He is also pondering on retirement post the 2019 World Cup.
Lasith Malinga - MI
Lasith Malinga has been one of the most high-profile players in the IPL since its inception in 2008. He has won three titles with MI to script his name in the record books. He was ignored in IPL 2018 Auction and was seen as bowling mentor for MI. But he was bought once again by Mumbai this time. He could retire post the WC.
Chris Gayle - KXIP
Chris Gayle was fetched by Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018 for Rs. 2 crore. The veteran player has 3,994 IPL runs from 112 matches. One of the most successful IPL players and a grand T20 player, Gayle would turn 40 next year. Age and fitness concerns could force him to bid adieu post the IPL 12 season.
Shane Watson - CSK
Shane Watson has been a terrific all-rounder in the IPL over the years. The former Australian cricketer has 3,177 runs in the IPL. He was roped in by CSK last season and the player helped them win the title. He was retained for IPL 2019. Watson will turn 38 next year and fitness is one issue that could bother him.
