WI's Shamar Joseph records maiden Test fifer on home soil
West Indies seamer Shamar Joseph decimated the South African batting line-up with a record five-wicket haul in the ongoing 2nd Test. Joseph made the red cherry talk on Day 1, after the Proteas elected to bat at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. SA had no answers to Joseph's pace and swing, having perished for 160. He recorded his maiden Test five-wicket haul on home soil.
A thunderous spell from Joseph
SA had a watchful start, with Joseph coming into the attack in the seventh over. In his third over, he dismissed Aiden Markram with a peach. This gave Joseph his maiden Test scalp at home. Joseph removed Temba Bavuma in the same over, while David Bedingham, Keshav Maharaj, and Kyle Verreynne were his next victims. Joseph conceded 33 runs in 14 overs (four maidens).
Three wickets for Jayden Seales
While Joseph dented the Proteas, Jayden Seales assisted him with another fine spell. The latter took three wickets for 45 runs as SA were bowled out for 160. WI were later in a spot of bother, finishing the day on 97/7.
