West Indies announce squad for England T20Is: Details here
The West Indies cricket team has announced its squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. The team welcomes back Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell and Akeal Hosein. The players had earlier opted out of the Sri Lanka T20I series last month. However, fast-bowler Alzarri Joseph won't be a part of this series as he has been suspended. Here's more.
Joseph's suspension leads to Forde's inclusion
Joseph has been given a two-match suspension for displaying dissent toward ODI captain Shai Hope. This was after he disagreed with the field set for him in the third ODI against England. After the incident, Joseph left the field for a short while after bowling an over but returned soon. Matthew Forde, who impressed in the ODIs against England, will replace Joseph in the squad.
Four players dropped from West Indies squad
The return of the four senior players has seen the likes of Fabian Allen, Alick Athanaze, Andre Fletcher and Shamar Springer being dropped from the squad. The batting unit for the upcoming series will comprise Shai Hope, Pooran, Hetmyer, Brandon King, Evin Lewis and skipper Rovman Powell. The all-rounders in the team are Russell, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd and Sherfane Rutherford.
Bowling unit for upcoming T20I series
The pace bowling unit for the T20I series against England will be Shamar Joseph, Terrance Hinds and Forde. The spinners in the squad are Hosein and Gudakesh Motie. This diverse team composition is expected to give a balanced attack to England in the upcoming matches. The first two T20Is of this series will start on November 9.
