3 reasons why MS Dhoni cannot be replaced
Fans have grown impatient with MS Dhoni. At Lord's, he was booed for scoring at a slow rate when India needed quick runs. They think that Dhoni's knocks cost India the series. But it is unfair to criticize him, given the situation he found himself in both the games. Dhoni is still India's best bet. Here are 3 reasons why Dhoni can't be replaced.
Dhoni the best in business
In ODIs, there is no better wicket-keeper than Dhoni, across the globe. Jos Buttler comes close and is transforming into a fine keeper. And then there is Quinton de Kock. But Dhoni's charisma, work behind the stumps and helping spinners bowl the right length put him in a different league. The truth is India haven't found Dhoni's successor and Kohli knows this.
Dhoni's statistics are impressive
No doubt Dhoni is still the best finisher of the game. His records speak for him. Dhoni averages 50+ in ODIs besides having 407 dismissals. He recently crossed 10,000 ODI runs, batting in the lower middle-order. In T20Is, he has the most stumpings (33).
Dhoni understands the DRS well
The 37-year-old has always been exceptional at reading the game. Dhoni's experience comes handy when the DRS factor is in play. Most times, the veteran wicket-keeper batsman gets the call right when going for the DRS. It was witnessed in the Indian Premier League 2018 as well. With his knowledge and the way he handles pressure situations, MSD is at another level.
Dhoni brings a lot to the table
During the IPL 2018, Kings XI Punjab skipper R Ashwin stated that MS went on to give him sound advice, despite him being in the opposite side. From DK to Shreyas Iyer, everybody lauded his inputs in the global T20 League. In international cricket as well, players always look up to Dhoni. Kohli might be India's skipper but Dhoni is the leader on-field.
