'Cooling off' period comes between Sourav Ganguly and BCCI chair

The Lodha Panel has confirmed that Sourav Ganguly will have to undergo a cooling off period of three years from June this year as he completes three years in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The committee clarified that even if he becomes the BCCI president, he will have to step down in June. He was appointed as secretary of CAB in 2014.

Lodha Panel clears air on doubts
With all the state cricket associations agreeing with the Lodha Panel recommendations, the Justice RM Lodha led committee addressed the media giving clarity on some questions. The committee clarified on the mandatory reforms such as cooling off periods, total tenure and the status of disqualified officials of state associations and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

End of road for former BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke
The Lodha Panel confirmed that former BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke, who was sacked by the Supreme Court on 2 January will not be able to hold any position in the state association or the BCCI. The panel also said that he cannot represent Maharashtra Cricket Association in the BCCI meetings. Similarly, any disqualified official cannot be associated with the cricket administration in the country.

The committee clarified that those state cricket associations which don't have any cases pending against them can go ahead with the elections.

The committee clarified that after a person has held a position in state association or the BCCI for nine years, he wpuld be out of cricket administration.
