Who has the most IPL wickets for a team? Stats
What's the story
Jasprit Bumrah starred with another match-winning spell for Mumbai Indians, this time against Delhi Capitals in Match 20 of the 2024 Indian Premier League season.
Bumrah took two wickets and completed 150 scalps in the IPL.
With this, he became the second bowler to take 150 IPL wickets for the five-time champions.
Here are the players with the most IPL wickets for a team.
#1
Lasith Malinga: 170 wickets for MI
Lasith Malinga, the incumbent MI bowling coach, outfoxed the greatest of batters with his quirky action in the IPL.
He has been serving MI since 2009, having won four IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
Malinga has the most wickets by a player for a franchise in T20 cricket.
Between 2009 and 2019, he took 170 IPL wickets at 19.79 for MI.
#2
Sunil Narine: 166 wickets for KKR
Despite tweaking his bowling action, West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has been tremendously successful in the IPL. He has been KKR's mainstay spinner since making his debut in the league (2012).
Narine helped the Knight Riders win two titles, in 2012 and 2014.
As of now, he has taken 166 wickets from 165 games at an average of 25.85.
#3
Jasprit Bumrah: 150 wickets for MI
As mentioned, in the DC match, Bumrah completed 150 IPL wickets. The right-arm seamer has also represented only MI as of now.
Therefore, Bumrah joined Malinga as the only two bowlers with 150 or more wickets for MI in the cash-rich league. He averages 23.18 and even has a fifer.
Like his mentor Malinga, Bumrah shines with searing yorkers at the death.
#4
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 147 wickets for SRH
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the few bowlers who efficiently swings the ball both ways.
Bhuvi's propensity had a direct impact on his success in the IPL. He is currently the mainstay pacer for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The right-armer is the only bowler with over 100 IPL wickets for SRH. Bhuvneshwar owns 147 scalps from 133 IPL game at 26.09 for them.
#5
Dwayne Bravo: 140 wickets for CSK
For several seasons, Dwayne Bravo was the nucleus of Chennai Super Kings' bowling attack.
The right-arm seamer flummoxed the greatest of batters with his vicious slower ball.
Bravo, now the bowling coach of CSK, is still their highest wicket-taker in the IPL. He accounted for 140 scalps from 116 matches at an average of 22.47 for the Super Kings.
