What goes into the making of Virat Kohli?
Virat Kohli, one of the best batsmen in the world, is endowed with loads of talent and leadership skills, enough to put him at the top echelons of cricketing world. What sets him apart though is his consistent display of brilliance. Attention to detail to aspects like dietary habits, match-ready fitness regime have a huge role in his success. Right balance is the key
Kohli's controlled aggression, competitiveness, zeal to succeed drive him to be the best among his peers. It is also why he is the number 1 ranked batsman in ODIs. He is also the number 2 and number 6 ranked batsman in Tests and T20Is. Bat wielding gladiator
Kohli uses a Grade A English willow with a curved blade which costs approximately Rs 20,000. While a bat with grain range (grains are lines on willow) of 6-12 is considered of high quality, Virat uses a bat with a grain range between 8-12.
Turning focus to being fit
Kohli's fitness fixation goes back to 2012 IPL when he felt he wasn't fit enough to be an international sportsperson. He said, "I was 11-12kgs heavier than I am now, really chubby. I changed everything...from what I eat to how I train. I was in gym for an hour-and-a-half every day. Working really hard, off gluten, off wheat, no cold drinks, no desserts, nothing."
Good physical training with sensible diet plan
By setting the benchmark high in the fitness game, Virat Kohli also made an impact on his Indian team-mates, who are now inspired and focused to stay fit. He combines good physical training with appropriate diet regimen. He avoids junk food and likes to substitute fatty foods with healthy alternatives. Further, he prefers eating fresh home cooked food and stays hydrated all the time.
