BCCI: Will ask ICC to hold revenue model till June
In the recently concluded Special General Meeting of the BCCI, the board unanimously decided to ask the International Cricket Council to hold the 'Big Three' revenue model until June when ICC's Annual General Meeting would take place. BCCI's representative at ICC meeting, Amitabh Chaudhary will put the board's view at ICC's Board Meeting in Dubai on 27 and 28 April.
BCCI's SGM concludes in New Delhi
The Special General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) concluded in New Delhi last night. It was for the first time that bigwigs like N Srinivasan, Sharad Pawar, Shashank Manohar and Anurag Thakur were absent from BCCI's SGM. While there was representation from almost all the state associations at the meeting, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association went unrepresented.
What was the agenda of the SGM?
The main agenda at the SGM was to discuss about International Cricket Council's new revenue model. Supreme Court nominees Amitabh Chaudhary and Rahul Johri would represent BCCI at the ICC meetings and would put forward BCCI's point of view regarding the revenue model at ICC.
What is ICC's 'Big Three' model?
The Big Three is a revenue model adapted by the ICC in 2014 to distribute the revenues of the ICC to three different cricket bodies. According to the model, BCCI would get 20.3 percent, England Cricket Board would get 4.4 percent and Cricket Australia will get 2.4% of the total revenue generated by ICC from 2015 to 2023.
Decision on India's participation in Champions Trophy in June?
After a report about BCCI threatening to pull out of the upcoming Champions Trophy flooded, it is learned that the decision will be taken in June after discussing the revenue model with the ICC.
Other decisions taken at the BCCI SGM
BCCI decided to double the incentives for national cricket team after their 2-1 series win against Australia last month. The players will now get Rs. 1 crore instead of the previous Rs. 50 lakh, on the basis of matches played. The state association representatives were also of the opinion that BCCI should co-operate with the Committee of the Administrators, rather than creating a hindrance.
