West Indies to tour Pakistan for a 3-match T20 series
West Indies cricket team will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in March 2018. This development confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The three matches are set to be played on March 29, March 31 and April 1, in Lahore. The series was supposed to be held last November but got postponed due to logistics, weather, and security challenges.
Return of international cricket
After the 2009 terror attack on Sri Lankan team bus, Pakistan didn't host an international match for years, as almost all teams refused to play in Pakistan citing security reasons. Only Zimbabwe visited Pakistan in 2015 for two T20Is and three ODIs in May 2015. After Zimbabwe's tour, ICC organised 3T20Is between World XI and Pakistan in September 2017 to mark new beginnings.
Sri Lanka played one T20I in Lahore in 2017
After the 2009 incident, Sri Lankan team visited Lahore in October 2017 to play the final and lone T20I of the 3-match series, while the first two were played in UAE. Pakistan won the series 3-0.
PCB and CWI agree to play over next five years
According PCB chairman, Najam Sethi, both Pakistan and West Indies' boards have committed to playing bi-lateral T20 series annually across the next five years. The series would be held in Pakistan and the USA. The series to be played, in August 2018 in the USA, will however be a trilateral series which would also feature Bangladesh.
