Arsene Wenger: 'I suffer from age discrimination'
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that some of the criticism, he has faced as the boss of the club over the last few years, has been because of age discrimination. Fans have grown frustrated with Wenger and have been asking the club to sack the 68-year-old, who hasn't won the Premier League title in 14 years. Wenger has been managing Arsenal since 1996.
Wenger claims prejudice against older managers
Wenger-managed Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League last season but he believes it is not his failures on the pitch that are drawing criticism. "When you age, you focus on doing well for your club and ignore all the rest. The older you get, the more it becomes age discrimination" the 68-year-old said.
Arsenal haven't won the EPL since 2003
Arsene Wenger, who has been with Arsenal for 22 years, has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. He has failed to win any major trophy since their brilliant campaign in 2003. In 2003-04, Arsenal were crowned EPL champions and they ended the season without a single defeat. Over the last few years, Arsenal have been reduced to a cup competition side.
Europa League glory can save Arsene Wenger
Arsenal are currently languishing on 6th spot in the Premier League and have been knocked out of the FA Cup and the League Cup. Since taking over Arsenal in 1996, Wenger has failed to deliver European glory but this time around he has the chance to redeem himself by winning the Europa League. Will he be able to achieve it? Let's wait and watch.
