Akram reacts to Yograj Singh, open to mentoring Pakistan squad
What's the story
Wasim Akram, a former Pakistani fast bowler, has stated he is ready to help the national cricket team.
However, he made it clear he doesn't want a full-time role as he has family commitments.
This comes after Yograj Singh slammed ex-Pakistani cricketers for not doing enough for the struggling national team.
"I want to help Pakistan cricket. I am available free of charge," Akram stated in response to Singh's comments while speaking to Ten Sports.
Here's more.
Clarification
Akram's response to criticism and offer of assistance
As mentioned in an interview with Ten Sports, Akram responded to Singh's criticism and offered his services to the team for free.
"I am always available. Free of charge, I will give my time," he said.
However, he stressed that owing to his age and family commitments, a full-time commitment is not possible for him.
"I am 58 years old, and at this stage of my life, I have a family-I have a 10-year-old daughter and two sons," he added.
Discontent
Akram expresses displeasure over treatment of ex-players
Akram also expressed his displeasure over how former players like Waqar Younis were criticized and trolled during their time in positions of power.
"When I see Pakistan coaches-like Waqar here, who has been sacked multiple times after becoming a coach-and how they are treated, I cannot tolerate the disrespect," the former pacer stated.
