IPL 2022 Auction: David Warner sold to DC
Australian opener David Warner saw teams get into a bidding war for him in the IPL 2022 Auction on Saturday. Delhi Capitals have picked him for Rs. 6.25 crore. Warner was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad after the 2021 season. The Orange Army had sacked him as captain midway through the season. Notably, Warner played for DC before joining the Orange Army.
Warner led SRH to IPL title in 2016
Warner made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2009. He played the first two seasons with them before moving to Sunrisers Hyderabad later on. Warner led the Orange Army to the IPL title in 2016. They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the final. However, Kane Williamson replaced him as SRH's captain in 2021. Warner was released after the end of the season.
Fifth-most runs in the IPL
Warner has the fifth-most runs in the Indian Premier League. He has smashed 5,449 runs from 150 matches at a remarkable average of 41.59 so far. Warner also owns four centuries in the league. He is the only batter with 50 or more half-centuries in the IPL. Warner has a splendid strike rate of 139.96 in the tournament.
Warner will add plenty of experience
