Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed a lacklustre Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Orange Army scripted their fifth victory this season. KKR suffered a fifth straight loss. The visitors posted a below-par 159/8, as SRH chased down the total in style after their openers flourished once again. Here are the records broken in this tiw.
Warner, Bairstow on a different level altogether
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow stitched their fourth 100-plus stand for the opening wicket this season. Their partnership-runs this season read as 118, 110, 185, 64, 33, 7, 72, 66 and 131.
Warner goes past 500 runs in IPL 2019
Warner (67) slammed his sixth fifty in IPL 2019. The Orange Cap holder became the first batsman to surpass 500 runs this season (517). Warner also smashed his 42nd career IPL fifty. The Aussie star also went past 4,500 career IPL runs. Bairstow became the third player to go past 400 runs in IPL 12. The Englishman notched his second fifty in IPL 2019.
Lynn registers ninth career IPL fifty
Chris Lynn (51) smashed his third fifty in IPL 2019. The KKR opener also went past 250 runs this season (264). Lynn registered his ninth career fifty in IPL. The right-handed batsman has notched 1,139 career IPL runs. He went past Matthew Hayden's tally of 1,107 and equalled Irfan Pathan in terms of career IPL runs.
Here are some of the individual feats achieved
Khaleel Ahmed (3/33) registered his second best bowling performance in IPL. Andre Russell (15) hit two sixes to take his tally to 41 this season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/35) now has 127 career IPL wickets. Sandeep Sharma (1/37) has 92 wickets in the IPL. He equalled Shane Watson in terms of career IPL scalps. Rinku Singh (30) notched his highest score in IPL.
How did the match pan out?
KKR started off in a flash and raced to 42 in 15 deliveries. Sunil Narine's wicket saw SRH getting back into the match as wickets kept tumbling. KKR's tactics were strange as they didn't introduce Russell once DK got out. Lynn and Russell fell in quick succession to provide advantage to SRH. In reply, the hosts chased down the target with 30 balls remaining.
