Warne picks this batsman to break Tendulkar's international century record
Sachin Tendulkar is the only batsman in the world to have amassed 100 international centuries. The former Indian legend registered 51 Test hundreds and 49 ODI tons respectively. The record is unthinkable for many modern-day stars. However, former Aussie spin great Shane Warne has picked out one person who can surpass Tendulkar's tally. Here are the details.
Kohli has 68 hundreds under his belt
30-year-old Kohli has 68 international hundreds to his name. He needs another 33 tons to go past Tendulkar and be the all-time record-scorer. The manner in which Kohli accumulates his runs and the big hundreds, one might witness this record being broken. In ODIs, Kohli could get past Tendulkar in a short period of time. Overall, he is in the fray as well.
Warne backs Kohli to surpass Tendulkar
"Yes, I think Sachin's records are in danger and it is like anyone else who has a record. I believe if you ask him if he wants Virat to break his records, he would say absolutely. It will be great fun to watch," Warne said.
Warne picks Smith as a better batsman in Tests
Meanwhile, the Aussie star has picked Steve Smith as a better batsman than Kohli in Tests. Smith has been a sheer success. "As far as Test cricket goes, I would probably say it is a really tough one between Virat and Smith. But I think if I had to pick one batsman in Test cricket, it would be Smith," said Warne to IANS.
Smith can get past Tendulkar's Test tally
The manner in which Smith is scoring the runs in the ongoing Ashes 2019, he could be unstoppable. With an average of over 65 in Tests, Smith has 26 tons to his name. He needs another 26 to cross Tendulkar's Test tally.
Kohli is the best across formats, says Warne
Warne also added that Kohli is the best batsman in the world across formats. "I think Virat is the best batsman in the world. I think if I had to pick one batsman across all formats, it would have to be Virat. Viv Richards was the greatest batsman in all cricket probably. But Virat overtakes Viv for me," added Warne.
