Kohli requests fans not to give up on Team India
After India's dismal performance at Lord's, which saw them lose by an innings and 159 runs, Indian skipper Virat Kohli took to Facebook to request fans not to give up on Team India. India have been nowhere near the quality that they had displayed at home and have faltered miserably in England. Former players like Sehwag and Harbhajan are also furious about India's performance.
What did Kohli say in his post?
In his Facebook post, the Indian skipper has stated, "Sometimes we win and other times we learn. You never give up on us and we promise to never give up on you either. Onwards and upwards." Kohli, himself, was also not upto the mark in the Lord's Test, ending up with scores of 23 and 17 in the two innings.
Indian becoming a one-man show?
Except for Kohli, no other Indian batsmen has been competent. He alone scored 54% runs of the team total in India's first innings at the Edgbaston Test. The Indian skipper scored 149 off 225 balls in the first innings while the rest of the batsmen put up 125 runs off 235 balls. Second innings saw Kohli scoring 51 while the rest amassed 111 runs.
Kohli drops down in Test rankings
After India's loss against England in the second Test, Virat Kohli has dropped to the number 2 position in ICC Test Batsmen Rankings, while Steven Smith has regained the top spot despite him being out of action.
