Being cautious will never reap dividends: Kohli
"I think the language we use as a batting unit, that has to be correct. I don't think being cautious will ever pay off or getting wary will help because you might stop playing your shots," Virat Kohli said after the loss.
Kohli vouches for counter-attacking cricket overseas
India were offered a grass-clad deck in Wellington which produced the required seam and swing for the Kiwi bowlers. While the Indian batsmen were yet again found reeling, Kohli believes the counter-attack method could only help the team under such conditions. "If I see a green wicket, then I try to play counter-attacking cricket so that I can take the team forward," Kohli said.
Performing overseas is more mental according to Kohli
Since January 2018, India have lost two Tests in South Africa, four in England, one in Australia and New Zealand. However, they beat Australia 2-1 in the four-match Test series at their own turf during India's 2018 away season. "Thinking too much about the conditions will shift the focus from batting. When you playing away from home, the game becomes more mental," Kohli said.
India will look to make a turnaround in second Test
The dejected Team India would like to turn the tables in the upcoming Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, commencing on February 29. Hosts New Zealand currently lead the two-match Test series 1-0. In six Tests played at this venue, the Kiwis have won four and lost one, while one was drawn. Besides, India are yet to play their maiden Test here.
