India vs Australia: Virat Kohli smashes 41st career ODI ton
Virat Kohli is enjoying the form of his life across all the formats since 2017. Team India skipper hit his 41st career ODI ton on Friday in Ranchi. Kohli, who hit a special 116-run knock in the second ODI against Australia earlier this week, followed it up with another century. With this, he has already hit three tons this year in ODIs. Here's more.
Kohli has already gone past 500 ODI runs in 2019
Kohli's consistency has been amazing this season. He started from where he left off in 2018. After scoring three runs in the first ODI in Australia in January, Kohli followed up with scores of 104, 46, 45, 43, 60, 44, 116 and now another ton in this match. He has already amassed 500-plus runs this year in the 50-over format. He is averaging 65-plus.
Kohli hits eighth career ODI ton against Australia
This was Kohli's third ton against Australia this year. He has also amassed eight career ODI tons against the Aussies. He needs two more to get past Sachin Tendulkar for most career ODI tons against Australia (9).
Kohli has been superb in ODI cricket
Kohli amassed 1,202 runs in ODIs in 2018. He hit six hundreds and three fifties. Today, the 30-year-old came in at a time when India were 11/1. From there on, he took the mantle. He stitched a valuable 50-plus stand with Kedar Jadhav. Australia set India a target of 314 in the third ODI. A win for India will help them seal the series.
