Legend Steve Waugh heaps praise on Virat Kohli
Former Australian cricketer Steve Waugh has showered praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He thinks Virat is one of the best batsmen in the world amongst the current lot. Kohli has been in exceptional form with the bat since the last three seasons and he has smashed runs in every format. And the legendary Waugh feels Kohli has the best technique.

Virat has been a revelation even outside the subcontinent, for India, especially in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). The 29-year-old has shown that he can come out and grind out runs in challenging situations. According to Cricket.com.au Waugh stated that. "He [Kohli] has got the game to survive anywhere, I think he's got the best technique of anyone in world cricket."
Waugh likens Kohli to former legends
Waugh then went to liken the player with former legends such as Sir Vivian Richards, Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar. Waugh said. "And he likes the big occasion like [Brian] Lara and Tendulkar and [Vivian] Richards and Javed Miandad and all the great batsmen. They want the big occasion and that brings out the best in their cricket."
Runs away from home makes Kohli special
Kohli was outstanding in the first Test at Edgbaston against England in the ongoing 5-match series. He smashed 149 in the first innings to bring up his 22nd ton. He then followed that up with a gritty 51 in the 2nd. Kohli has been in sublime form in 2018 and had earlier scored a superb 153 against Proteas in South Africa.

The number one Test batsman in the world- Kohli has amassed 5,754 runs in 67 Tests. His average of 54.28 makes him the standout performer. Further he has 9,779 runs in 211 ODIs, it shows his mettle as a modern day batsman.
