Former England captain picks Kohli ahead of Tendulkar and Lara
Former England cricket team captain Michael Vaughan has had his say on who he considers to be the greatest of all time in ODI cricket. The Englishman picked up current Indian team skipper Virat Kohli as the best ever. And when a fan asked Vaughan if he rated Kohli higher than Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, the answer was surprisingly, yes. Here's more.
Kohli has been at another level in ODIs
Virat Kohli has taken the 50-over format by storm with his consistency and several record-breaking innings. In the ongoing series against Australia, Kohli amassed two successive ODI hundreds. Within 70 days of 2019, the 30-year-old has already smashed three tons in total and scored 591 runs. The last two years saw Kohli topping the run-tally in ODI cricket.
Kohli has been superb in the ongoing ODI series
Kohli, who had scored a match-winning innings of 116 in the second ODI against Australia, responded with 123 in the third. However, his century wasn't enough as India lost the encounter. Kohli did show his hunger for runs and if not for him, then India would have struggled big time. Vaughan tweeted his thoughts about Kohli and then answered a fan as well.

Kohli the GOAT in ODIs
Clarke voiced the same opinion as Vaughan earlier
Vaughan isn't the first legendary cricketer to voice this opinion about Kohli. Back in January, former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke showed his admiration for the current Indian captain and went on to claim that he is the greatest ever ODI batsman of all time. Kohli has already amassed 41 ODI tons and 66 international centuries in total. Tendulkar had notched 49 ODI tons.
Clarke had no doubts about Kohli being GOAT
"To me, Virat Kohli is the greatest batsman to have ever played one-day cricket. I have no doubts after seeing what he has achieved for India. You have to respect Virat's passion to win games for his country," said Clarke.
Tendulkar conquered the cricket field like nobody else
Tendulkar has always been considered as the greatest ever batsman the world has ever seen. His contribution to cricket is unmatched. Tendulkar's talent and his ability to score runs was extraordinary. Tendulkar dominated both Tests and ODIs and is still the highest run-scorer in international cricket. He faced a plethora of world class bowlers back in his time.
Kohli has already gone past Lara in ODI records
Brian Lara played 299 ODIs and amassed 10,405 runs with 19 hundreds and 63 fifties. Kohli has already gone past the legend in terms of both runs and hundreds. Lara will fondly be remembered as an orthodox batsman, who treated fans with his artistry.
Kohli has been breaking Tendulkar's records
Recently, Kohli got to his 41st ODI ton in his 225th ODI. Tendulkar had 23 hundreds in 225 matches. Kohli has already overtaken Tendulkar in many records in the last couple of years. This was another feather in the cap. Last year, Kohli took the least number of innings (205) to score 10,000 runs in ODIs. Tendulkar had taken 259 innings.
