Champions Trophy: Van der Dussen highlights India's 'one ground' advantage
What's the story
South African batter Rassie van der Dussen has admitted that India have a huge advantage in the ongoing Champions Trophy.
He credited India's base in Dubai for this edge, which means they don't have to travel between cities or countries.
Van der Dussen stressed that being able to train and play in one place is an advantage.
"It's definitely an advantage. I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to know that," he stated as per ESPN.
Advantage explained
Van der Dussen highlights India's home advantage
"If you can stay in one place, stay in one hotel, practise in the same facilities, play in the same stadium, on the same pitches every time, it's definitely an advantage," Van der Dussen further explained.
"The onus would be on them to use that advantage," he added, talking about the pressure India would be.
The South African cricketer made these comments from Karachi, where his team is gearing up for their final group match against England.
Tournament format
Champions Trophy follows a hybrid model
The Champions Trophy is being held on a hybrid model after the Indian government denied permission to the team to travel to Pakistan.
Consequently, the ICC board approved India's matches to be played at neutral venues. This also applies to Pakistan for events in India till 2027.
Notably, last week, Pakistan flew to Dubai for their key match against India but lost and were eliminated from the tournament at the group stage.

Other cricketing figures echo van der Dussen's views
Van der Dussen's views were echoed by other cricketing figures.
Pakistan's head coach, Aaqib Javed, admitted that playing on the same pitch or ground does give an advantage.
However, he dismissed suggestions that this was the only reason behind their loss against India.
Additionally, Australian captain Pat Cummins also agreed with Van der Dussen, telling Yahoo Sports Australia that India hold a "huge advantage" by playing all their matches in Dubai.
Venue preference
Van der Dussen expresses preference for Lahore venue
When asked about his preferred venue for the semifinals, Van der Dussen said, "If it's a personal thing, I would say playing in Lahore because it's just good to bat there. The Dubai pitch is not as high-scoring as the Lahore."
"I don't think it really matters," he further added, stressing that the South African team is ready to face either challenge and have the resources to adapt to any venue.
