US Open: Novak Djokovic starts title defense with straight-set win
Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic started his US Open title defense with a straight-set win over Radu Albot. The Serb claimed a 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 win in the men's singles first round at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Djokovic, who won the 2023 US Open, secured his 89th match-win at this Slam. He is running for his 100th career title.

The Serb had a win percentage of 74 and 57 in the first and second serves, respectively. He won 44 of his 93 receiving points. Novak Djokovic eyes 25th major title at US Open
Djokovic entered the 2024 US Open as the defending champion. He beat Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 final to claim his fourth US Open title. The Serb would want to clinch a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. He currently has the joint-most major titles (male or female) with Margaret Court (24). Notably, 10 of Djokovic's major honors have come at the Australian Open.
Djokovic eyes 90+ wins at each of four majors
With one more US Open match-win, Djokovic have 90+ victories at each of the four Grand Slams. The Serb is 94-9 at the Australian Open, 96-16 at the French Open, and 97-12 at Wimbledon as of now.
