US Open: Frances Tiafoe survives Kovacevic test with four-set win
American star Frances Tiafoe beat his countryman Aleksandar Kovacevic to start his 2024 US Open campaign. The former was pushed to the fourth set before claiming a 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win in an all-American clash at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. Frances has reached the second round at the US Open for the fifth successive year. He played the quarter-final last year.

Tiafoe played his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final
Tiafoe is coming off a successful run at the Cincinnati Masters. He stunned Holger Rune to qualify for his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final. As per ATP, Tiafoe became the first American to reach the Cincinnati final since John Isner in 2013. He reached the milestone in his 47th main-draw appearance. However, Jannik Sinner defeated Tiafoe in the summit clash.
