US Open: Grigor Dimitrov reaches second major quarter-final in 2024
Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov reached the men's singles quarter-final at the 2024 US Open after beating Andrey Rublev. The former claimed a 6-3, 7-6(3), 1-6, 3-6, 6-3 win in over three hours at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Dimitrov, who has resurrected this year, made it to his eighth quarter-final at Grand Slams. He also reached the last eight at the French Open this year.

Dimitrov won a total of 153 points and 41 winners throughout the match. He served 17 aces compared to Rublev's 21. The Bulgarian had a win percentage of 80 and 42 in the first and second serves, respectively. Rublev won 63 of his 173 receiving points and converted five of his 18 break points. Dimitrov recorded 67 unforced errors and 12 double-faults.

Dimitrov will play his second major quarter-final this year, having done so at the French Open. As per Opta, he has reached the quarter-finals in two Grand Slams in a year for the second time, after 2014 (Australian Open and Wimbledon).

Besides reaching his eighth Grand Slam quarter-final, Dimitrov claimed his 450th ATP tour-level victory. As many as 97 of these wins have come at Grand Slams, including 21 at the US Open. Dimitrov has a career win-loss record of 450-286 so far. He has clinched nine ATP trophies. However, he is yet to win a Grand Slam title.
