'Recovery on track': Ben Stokes likely to play Pakistan series
England cricket team captain, Ben Stokes, is set to return for the impending Test series in Pakistan. This news follows his recent hamstring injury scans, which have shown positive results. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that his recovery is on track. Stokes missed England's recent home Test series against Sri Lanka owing to a hamstring tear he suffered while playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred on August 11.
Recovery remains on track: ECB
The ECB issued a statement regarding Stokes's injury, "England Men's Test captain Ben Stokes today underwent planned scans on the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the Test series against Sri Lanka." The board further added, "The results of the scans were positive and confirmed that his recovery, since sustaining the injury six-and-a-half weeks ago, remains on track to participate in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan."
Stokes's bowling ability remains uncertain
Despite his recovery progress, there are still uncertainties surrounding Stokes's bowling ability in the early stages of the Pakistan tour. When asked about this by Sky Sports on Tuesday, he responded, "I think that's you getting ahead of yourself. Obviously I've been six-and-a-half weeks now of just walking and doing stuff in the gym." He further emphasized that there's more than just his hamstring that needs to be conditioned for bowling again.
