UP T20 League: Dhruv Jurel stars in Gorakhpur Lions' win
Dhruv Jurel led the Gorakhpur Lions to a resounding 91-run victory over the Noida Super Kings in Match 2 of the UP T20 League 2024. The match took place at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday. Batting first, the Lions set a formidable target of 219 runs, largely due to Jurel's impressive innings of 70 runs from just 46 deliveries.
Jurel's highest T20 score propels Lions to victory
Jurel's innings, which included three fours and five sixes, marked his highest score in T20 cricket. Despite this achievement, the UP T20 League matches do not contribute to domestic records. The league is currently in its second season. Jurel's performance was instrumental in securing a winning start for his team in the tournament.
Juyal's unbeaten century boosts Lions's total
Aryan Juyal, another key player for the Lions, outshone even Jurel by scoring an unbeaten 104 off just 54 balls. This exceptional performance helped the team amass a total of 218/2 in their allotted 20 overs. The partnership between Jurel and Juyal was crucial in maintaining a high scoring rate throughout the innings.
Super Kings crumble under pressure from Lions's bowlers
In response to the Lions's daunting total, the Super Kings were dismissed for a mere 127 runs. Shivam Sharma emerged as the most effective bowler for the Lions, claiming three wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs. Ankit Rajpoot, Saurabh Kumar and Vijay Yadav also contributed significantly to the team's bowling success by taking two wickets each.
