Here're unique records held by Virat Kohli as Test captain
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the best batsman in the world across all the formats. While his batting records are well-documented, he has made a tremendous impact as the captain as well. Recently, he became India's most successful Test skipper of all time. On the same note, we take a look at some of his unique records as the Test captain.
1,000 runs in three consecutive calendar years
Since 2016, Kohli has been on a roll, scoring runs at will across the world. Consequently, he has broken a number of records but last year, he scripted a unique one. He became the first Indian as well as the first Test captain to score 1,000 Test runs in three consecutive calendar years (2016- 1,215, 2017- 1,059 and 2018- 1,322).
Most double hundreds as Test skipper
Scoring even a single career double hundred is considered an achievement. But it looks like that King Kohli has made it a habit to scale unfathomable heights. He holds the record of the most number of double hundreds in the format by a captain. To date, he has scored six Test double hundreds as the skipper, with the last one coming in 2017.
Most Test wins as Indian captain
Kohli is now the joint-most successful Indian captain in Tests, having registered 27 wins and shares the record with MS Dhoni. However, he is ahead of the former skipper, based on the number of matches required to register these wins. Kohli has achieved the feat in 47 Tests, while Dhoni took 60 Tests to attain the same, making the former distinctively successful.
Most successful away Test skipper for India
Besides being the joint-most successful Test skipper for India, Kohli has achieved another feat, as he is now the most successful Indian skipper, playing away from home. Kohli now has 12 wins from 26 Tests while playing overseas, going past Sourav Ganguly's previous record of 11 off 28. With Kohli and his men showing no signs of aging, this tally would grow strong.

He has won seven Tests outside Asia, going past Ganguly's record of six. Meanwhile, he looks on course to become Asia's most successful Test captain outside Asia, as a win would help him level with Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq, with eight wins.
