BCCI unhappy with Cricket South Africa's modus operandi
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed its disappointment over the manner Cricket South Africa is handling the itinerary of the upcoming series between India and South Africa. Indian Team was scheduled to tour South Africa in December 2017, but new reports suggest that the tour may get postponed by a month. Let us have a look at the details.
Details about the tour
Reportedly, Indian Team will to tour South Africa for a full-fledged series. India will play four test matches, five ODIs and two T20 internationals. The dates of the tour have not been finalized yet.
BCCI's frosty relationship with Haroon Lorgat continues
The BCCI and CSA have a long-standing association spanning more than two decades. However, the bond became strained when Haroon Lorgat was appointed as chief of CSA in 2013. The reason cited was BCCI's then president Srinivasan's frosty relationship with Haroon. Now, things have taken a turn for the worse with BCCI officials announcing their disappointment over how Lorgat went about finalizing the itinerary.
Lorgat prefers Australia over India?
During Champions Trophy, Lorgat made no efforts to finalize the itinerary of India tour even though he was staying in the same hotel as BCCI officials. He first finalized Australia's 2018 tour, and then gave BCCI a schedule which was unacceptable to India.
Boxing Day test to get cancelled
According to Lorgat's schedule, the first test was scheduled to start on Boxing Day (26th December). However, India's last test with Sri Lanka will get over on 24th December, due to which it is impossible for India to be present in SA for the Boxing Day test. Indian team has asked for ample time to prepare themselves to play on SA's soil.
India demands two practice games
The Indian team has asked for two practice games before the series begins. This will push the dates of first test well past 10th January 2018, resulting in financial loss for the South African cricket board.
