Australian Cricket Awards: Travis Head secures prestigious Allan Border medal

Star batter Travis Head won the prestigious Allan Border medal at the 2025 Australian Cricket Awards, beating fellow cricketers Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins by 50 and 61 votes, respectively.
This comes after a stellar year for Head in all three formats of the game. He scored a total of 1,399 international runs, including four centuries.
Notably, Head was also adjudged the Men's ODI Player of the Year.

Most international runs for Australia in 2024
Head finished 2024 with 1399 runs from 29 internationals at a remarkable average of 42.39. His tally includes four tons and five half-centuries.
Notably, no other Australian managed 1,000-plus runs across formats last year. Steve Smith follows Head with 811 runs.
Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis tops the overall tally with 1,860 runs. However, he took 48 internationals for the same.

Head also named Men's ODI Player of the Year
As mentioned, along with the Allan Border medal, Head also pipped wicket-keeper Alex Carey to bag the Men's ODI player-of-the-year award.
Although Head featured in only five ODIs, he scored 252 runs at an incredible average of 63.00 (one century). His strike-rate in the format was 120.00.
Meanwhile, Head also took six wickets at 10.33 with the ball in 2024.

Hazlewood, Zampa bag top honors
Meanwhile, Hazlewood won the Shane Warne Test Player of the Year award for his incredible haul of 30 wickets at an average of 13.17.
Leg-spinner Adam Zampa was adjudged the Men's T20I Player of the Year. He bagged the most T20I wickets for Australia in 2024.
Zampa finished with a staggering 35 scalps from just 21 T20Is at an average of 17.20. His tally includes two four-wicket hauls.
Women's cricket
Sutherland, Gardner, and Mooney recognized for their performances
In the women's category, Annabel Sutherland bagged her maiden Belinda Clark Award after a week.
Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney were also honored at the awards ceremony.
Gardner, who scored 385 runs and took 23 wickets during the voting period, was awarded the Women's ODI Player of the Year.
Mooney, who has been consistent, scored 618 T20I runs at an average of 47.53 (Strike-rate: 129.83) to become the T20I Player of the Year.
Tournament winners
Maxwell, Connolly, Perry, and Jonassen win BBL awards
The Australian Cricket Awards also honored the performances of players in domestic tournaments.
Glenn Maxwell and Cooper Connolly were declared joint-winners of the Big Bash League (BBL) Player of the Tournament award.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Ellyse Perry and Jess Jonassen shared the Women's BBL Player of the Tournament award for their outstanding contributions to their respective teams.
