Indian cricket team to fly business class for domestic tours
In what would be a hassle-free ride for players, BCCI is set to upgrade the team India members' domestic air travel from economy to business class. Reportedly, Indian captain Virat Kohli and other players approached the board citing privacy and security concerns. BCCI's acting president CK Khanna, who confirmed sending the proposal, has written to his colleagues to speed up the process.
Problems faced by players while travelling economy
Apart from the privacy and security issues, which the players face with fans constantly approaching the players, there are also ergonomic issues for instance, like lack of leg room for tall players causing discomfort after a hectic series. Add to this the long wait for luggage at the airport making the players' overall experience unpleasant and tiring.
Kapil Dev says BCCI should have its own plane
Interestingly, former Indian captain Kapil Dev suggested that the cash-rich Indian cricket board should have its own planes to fly the players. He said, "this would save a lot of time and make life easier for Team India who can also get enough rest between matches. The board can afford it. They should have done it five years ago."
