Former Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement from the game recently, will be participating in the upcoming Global T20 League in Canada. Toronto Nationals pick Yuvi in draft
Global T20 League franchise Toronto Nationals picked up Yuvraj as a marquee player in the draft held on Thursday. This is the second season of the Global T20 League and it will begin from July 25 and continue till August 11. Yuvi's side Nationals will take on defending champs Vancouver Knights in the opening encounter. The tourney will comprise of 22 matches in total.
Yuvi to represent Toronto Nationals!
The likes of Shakib, Faf and Munro set to feature
Mega superstars across the world have joined the tournament. In-form Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was picked up by Brampton Wolves, which also got in the experienced Kiwi opener Colin Munro. Edmonton Royals have roped in South African skipper Faf du Plessis. The likes of West Indian powerhouses Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine were all retained by their respective franchises.
Yuvi wanted to be a T20 freelancer
Yuvraj wanted to retire in order to pursue cricket as a T20 freelancer. One needs to note that Indian players, who hold a BCCI contract, are barred from playing in overseas T20 leagues. But, Yuvraj has now retired from Indian cricket and the IPL as well. The BCCI allows retired cricketers to feature in global T20 leagues. This is a new chapter for Yuvi.
Yuvi was last seen in IPL 2019
Yuvraj was last seen in the IPL 2019. He represented the Mumbai Indians. Yuvi played four matches for MI and scored 98 runs with a best of 53. The two-time IPL winner finished with 2,750 runs in 132 matches.

This is a big moment for Yuvi. He will be plying his trades with quality T20 freelancers around the world. Therefore, he will be needed to bring his best game forward.
