India are set to take on arch-rivals Pakistan for the seventh time in the ICC World Cup on Sunday. Notably, Pakistan are yet to win against Men In Blue in this tournament, while India enter as the favorites even this term. With the match set to be an intense encounter, we take a look at the top ODIs between these two sides to date.
Javed Miandad breaks a billion hearts
One of the memorable India-Pakistan matches in Sharjah was the final of the Austral-Asia Cup in 1986. India had posted a decent total of 245/7, courtesy Sunil Gavaskar's 92. However, the innings was soon forgotten as India lost the match. Pakistan's Javed Miandad played a gem of an innings of 116* to clinch the game away in the final ball.
India's first ever 300+ total helps decimate Pakistan
With enormous Indian and Pakistani population in Sharjah, it was always a treat for the teams to play there. During the Sharjah Cup in 1996, India scored their first-ever 300-plus total in ODIs, courtesy Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Singh Sidhu's 118 and 101, respectively. Chasing a then mammoth total of 305, Pakistan batsmen succumbed to Javagal Srinath's 3/65 and lost by 28 runs.
Virat Kohli guns down Pakistani bowlers with an epic innings
In another Asian battle, Pakistan came up with a splendid batting performance, posting 329/6, courtesy Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed. However, in reply, it was Virat Kohli, who gunned down the Pakistan bowlers with his sublime innings of 183. Supported by twin healthy innings by Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, India won by a total of six wickets.
A sweet win for the fourth time
The 2003 edition saw arch-rivals India and Pakistan squaring off at Centurion. Having lost on the previous three occasions, Pakistan were hoping for a turnaround this time. Batting first, Pakistan posted an above par total of 273, riding on Saeed Anwar's brilliant century. However, their hopes were dashed, as it was Sachin Tendulkar's commendable 98, which made sure that India were fourth time lucky.

India were off to a flier when they tamed Pakistan by 124 runs in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. However, Pakistan returned the favor when they met again in the final. Pakistan posted a strong total of 338/4, courtesy Fakhar Zaman's impressive 114. However, in reply, Indian batsmen succumbed to pressure, while Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali's three-wicket hauls ensured a 180-run win.
