Iyer's maiden IPL knock of note came in the 2015 season when he scored 83 off 56 balls against Mumbai Indians in Delhi.
Opening the innings for Delhi Daredevils, he displayed his wide range of shots and formed a formidable 154-run partnership with JP Duminy.
Iyer smoked seven fours and five sixes as his performance contributed significantly to Delhi's first-innings total of 190/4.
The team eventually recorded a comfortable victory.

93* off 40 balls vs KKR, 2018
Another highlight of Iyer's career is his power-packed 93* off just 40 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2018 IPL.
Coming at number three, the Delhi skipper batted with a strike rate of over 230, hitting three fours and 10 sixes in Delhi.
His explosive knock powered Delhi to a mammoth 219/4, setting up a comprehensive win by a margin of 55 runs.

96 off 57 balls vs GL, 2018
In the 2018 IPL match against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions, Iyer played one of the best innings in IPL history.
Chasing 196 in Kanpur, he scored a match-winning 96 off just 57 balls. His knock was laced with 15 fours and two sixes.
Despite losing his wicket in the final over, his performance was instrumental in Delhi Capitals's victory with two balls remaining.

Iyer was on fire against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 IPL match in Sharjah.
Arriving to bat at 56/1 in the sixth over, the Delhi captain hammered seven sixes and eight fours en route to his unbeaten 38-ball 88 to help DC post 228/4 while batting first.
Iyer completed his fifty off 26 balls before he further added 37 from 12 deliveries. DC eventually won by 18 runs.
