WCPL: Jemimah Rodrigues dances to Shah Rukh Khan's 'Lungi Dance'
Jemimah Rodrigues, a member of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), celebrated their emphatic win against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2024 Women's Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in Trinidad in style. The Knight Riders won through the Super Over after two teams were tied at 128. Following their victory, Rodrigues and her teammate Jess Jonassen were seen dancing to 'Lungi Dance,' a popular song from Shah Rukh Khan's movie Chennai Express.

Here's how the match panned out
In the first innings, TKR posted a total of 128 for eight wickets, with captain Deandra Dottin contributing 53 runs off 38 balls. Erin Burns also made a significant contribution of 61(50) for the Amazon Warriors. However, the match was ultimately decided in a Super Over where Dottin and Rodrigues helped TKR score 19 runs. Jonassen then successfully defended this total, securing TKR's victory.
Rodrigues pays tribute to team owner Shah Rukh Khan
The celebratory dance was a tribute to TKR's owner, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The video of Rodrigues and Jonassen's performance was shared on TKR's social media platforms. Responding to the post, 23-year-old Rodrigues wrote, "How could we have not paid our tribute to our owner." This gesture underscored the team's appreciation for their owner following their hard-fought victory in the CPL match.

Although Rodrigues has had a modest run in the WCPL so far, she remains a key member for TKR. She has managed only 44 runs at an average of 14.67 and a strike-rate of 107.31 as of now. In the match against Amazon Warriors, she fell to Karishma Ramharack after scoring a 6-ball 2. This victory has kept alive TKR's hopes of progressing to the final. They will face Barbados Royals next.
