Despite other New Zealand batters, including former captain Kane Williamson, failing to surpass 30 runs in the final innings, Ravindra single-handedly kept their hopes alive for a memorable victory.

Southee spoke highly of Ravindra after New Zealand's 63-run defeat in Galle. He stated, "I know he is a magnificent player. He played here for the first time. He must be very, very excited about it."
