Presenting the half-centurions for SRH in IPL playoffs
Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with a berth in the final at stakes. SRH are vying for their second title, having tasted the glory way back in 2016. Meanwhile, there have been some notable batting performances for SRH in the playoff stage. Let's decode SRH's half-centurions in IPL playoffs.
Kane Williamson - 50* in Eliminator, 2020
It was the Eliminator of IPL 2020 and SRH were up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Abu Dhabi. Chasing a paltry 132, the Orange Army lost four wickets with just 67 runs on the board. Kane Williamson, who arrived at number four, provided stability with a well-composed knock. He made an unbeaten 44-ball 50 as SRH crossed the line with two balls to spare.
Kane Williamson - 67 in Qualifier 2, 2020
Williamson made his bat talk in the second Qualifier of the 2020 event as well. Chasing 190 against Delhi Capitals, SRH were 2/43 when Williamson arrived. The New Zealander played with intent and was also involved in a couple of crucial partnerships, including a 57-run stand with Jason Holder. Williamson ended up scoring a 45-ball 67 though SRH lost by 17 runs.
David Warner - 69 in Final, 2016
Former SRH skipper David Warner led the team from the front in the 2016 final against RCB. He made great utilization of the powerplay overs as SRH were off to a dream start. Warner continued his onslaught before being dismissed for 69 off just 38 balls. His brilliance meant the Orange Army posted 208/7 in Bengaluru and later won the duel by eight runs.
David Warner - 93* in Qualifier 2, 2016
Warner was also sensational in the second Qualifier of the 2016 competition, against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions. Chasing 163 in Delhi, the Hyderbad-based team was off to a terrible start as six of their top seven batters could not touch the 12-run mark. Warner fought the lone battle and made an unbeaten 93 off 58 balls. SRH hence crossed the line in 19.2 overs.
