Presenting left-arm pacers with best bowling figures in T20Is
Mustafizur Rahman rewrote the record books on Saturday, claiming figures worth 6/10 versus USA in the third and final T20I in Houston. These are now the best figures by a left-arm pacer in T20Is (only full-member team players). Notably, Mustafizur became the first Bangladesh bowler to claim a T20I six-fer. Here are the left-arm pacers with the best T20I figures (only full-member team players).
Mustafizur Rahman - 5/22 versus New Zealand, 2016
Mustafizur features twice on this list as he ran through New Zealand's batting line-up in the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup game in Kolkata. He claimed key wickets of Henry Nicholls, Kane Williamson, Grant Elliott, Mitchell Santner, and Nathan McCullum to finish with 5/22 in four overs. Though NZ were restricted to 145/8, Bangladesh were folded for just 70 in reply.
Sam Curran - 5/10 versus Afghanistan, 2022
England all-rounder Sam Curran bagged a fifer versus Afghanistan in a 2022 T20 WC game in Perth. He picked 5/10 from just 3.4 overs as he sent back the likes of Ibrahim Zadran, Usman Ghani, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, and Fazalhaq Farooqi. Curran's brilliance meant Afghanistan were folded for 112. England eventually won by five wickets.
Obed McCoy- 6/17 versus India, 2022
West Indies pacer Obed McCoy was nearly unplayable in the 2022 T20I against India in Basseterre. After dismissing both their openers cheaply, the left-arm pacer ran through India's lower order to finish with 6/17 in four overs. McCoy recorded the best bowling by a WI bowler in T20Is as India were folded for 138. The hosts later won by five wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman - 6/10 versus USA, 2024
Mustafizur displaced McCoy at the top with his recent heroics against USA. The veteran was sensational across all phases as USA were restricted to 104/9 after being at 46/0 at one stage. While Mustafizur dismissed two of USA's top-three batters, his remaining four wickets came in the final 15 balls of the innings. He claimed 6/10 as Bangladesh recorded a solid 10-wicket triumph.
