Reports: Manchester United to sack Mourinho this weekend
What we had been anticipating for so long is about to come true as reports emerge that Manchester United will sack Jose Mourinho anytime after their Newcastle match. Under the Portuguese, United have seen their worst ever start to the season in 29 years. As per reports, he will be sacked even if United win against Newcastle. Zidane is the favorite to replace him.
This was the only way out after United's horrendous performance
Currently, Manchester United are 10th in the league table and already nine points behind table-toppers Manchester City and Liverpool. They have remained without a win in their last four matches across all competitions. Mourinho has had too many disputes with the players for him to continue throughout the season. Tonight might be the last time Mourinho comes out as Manchester United's manager.
Mourinho's disputes with the players
Like he does everywhere, Mourinho began having quarrels with United players and the dressing room became a divisive place of late. He removed Pogba from vice-captaincy, had a fall-out with Anthony Martial over him receiving minimal playing time, and with Alexis Sanchez for benching him without a reason in an important match. United authorities couldn't have allowed such an atmosphere to prevail any longer.
The tail is wagging the dog at Manchester United: Neville
United legend Gary Neville is angry with the fact that report of Mourinho being sacked has been leaked before the club made the official announcement. "There is something rotten to the core of the decisions that have been made over the last four or five years," said Neville. He believes Mourinho should have been allowed to buy a center-back as per his demands.
What next for United?
Zidane is the favorite to replace Jose Mourinho as the manager of Manchester United, but it is believed that Michael Carrick will be made the interim manager before the deed is finalized. United have matches against Chelsea and Juventus on October 20 and 24 respectively.
