#GamingBytes: Mumbai based team wins PUBG Mobile Campus Championship
PUBG Mobile Campus Championship is the first major eSports tournament, to be held in India. Oppo and Tencent partnered to organize the tournament and to spread the popularity of PUBG Mobile. The final was held on Sunday, October 21, at Bengaluru and Mumbai based team, 'The Terrifying Nightmares' took home a grand cash prize for the ultimate chicken dinner. Read all about it here.

The highly contested month-long tournament saw the finals being played out at Bengaluru's KTPO Whitefield. Among 20 teams that reached the finals, after 12 days of getting through the qualifying rounds, Mumbai based team 'The Terrifying Nightmares' won the championship and took home a prize of Rs. 15 lakh. All gamers, who reached the top 15 positions, also took home Oppo F9 Pro smartphones.
The scale of the event in context
'The Terrifying Nightmares' proved its mettle, emerging victorious in the immensely large scale event. To put the event's size in context, it witnessed over 250,000 registrations from over 1,000 colleges across 30 cities. Notably, the total prize pool for the event was Rs. 50 lakh.
Other awards given in the tournament
Apart from the ultimate chicken dinner, other awards in the tournament were given for spectacular gameplay. The MVP award went to Eleen Raj of Team NSD. R4W Official's Hardeep Singh was awarded 'The Medic' for maximum in-game revivals. Jatin Gupta, belonging to Team 6ix9ine, was honored with 'The Lone Ranger' tag for bagging the maximum number of kills in one game.
The rise of eSports in India
Chang Han Kim, PUBG Corp's CEO was impressed and overwhelmed by the response to PUBG Mobile and dubbed it 'colossal'. He remarked that it had transcended from being just a mobile game to 'India's game of choice'. Notably, he also remarked about India's thriving eSports scene and, the players from this tournament will be eligible for the global PUBG Star Challenge.
