CoA asks to remove top BCCI officials
The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has demanded the ouster of the top BCCI officials for their non-compliance of directives. In their latest report to the apex court, the two member CoA has demanded removal of acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary. Let us find out more about this latest report.
CoA wants Rahul Johri to take over the control
The CoA has said that the three officials should be removed and the control should be handed over to the CEO Rahul Johri. Incidentally, Johri was not allowed to attend the BCCI's SGM on 26th July by the trio.
What did the CoA tell SC?
In their fifth status report since January 2017, the CoA has suggested a new fund disbursement policy should be adopted by the BCCI, which will be used to allot funds to the state associations. The CoA also demanded a separate forensic audit for each state association and appointment of an administrator a month before the elections to look over the preparations.
"BCCI failed to implement the reforms"
In the report, CoA said, "The Committee of Administrators submits that since the then President and Secretary of the BCCI had been removed because the BCCI failed to implement the reforms mandated by the Judgement despite a period of six months having passed." They also said that ousting Johri from attending SGM was a pre-planned and an orchestrated move by the trio.
No decisions taken at BCCI's SGM
The CoA told the SC that while there were no major decisions taken at the BCCI SGM on 26th July, there was also no action taken on appointment of Ombudsman and the conflict of interest issue.
