Five greatest WWE matches of The Rock
The Rock is probably the most popular star to emerge from pro-wrestling. He is now one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood and a global megastar, but he was already an icon when he left the WWE. He is one of the greatest WWE wrestlers ever, and killed it in terms of action and cutting promos. Here're his five greatest matches of all time.
The Rock and Chris Jericho's classic at No Mercy 2001
This match was one of the classics of the early 2000s, and both Rock and Jericho delivered one of their finest performances together here. Jericho has always been technically sound, and both men countered each other's moves perfectly throughout the match. The match delivered an intense experience, thanks to commentary of Jim Ross. Jericho won the match due to involvement by Stephanie McMahon.
The WrestleMania XV match against Stone Cold
The match was an intense brawl with the right amount of drama in it to spice things up. Fighting started outside the ring, and a move saw Austin's knee land on support girders. Mr. McMahon later got involved in the action, with Rock and Austin later going through a series of counters for Austin to ultimately pick up the victory.
The Vengeance 2002 Triple-threat match
Triple-threat matches are difficult to execute, but the three legends Rock, The Undertaker and Kurt Angle made their 2002 Vengeance main-event for the WWE Championship one of the finest ever. Each one dished out the other's moves as Rock chokeslammed Undertaker, who in turn pulled off an Angle Slam. Rock later performed the Angle Slam again on Kurt to win the title.
The Rock and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X8
WWE gave us the ultimate battle by booking Hulk Hogan and The Rock in a match labeled 'Icon vs Icon' at WrestleMania X8. The two legends fought it out to prove who is the GOAT, and though Hogan put up a commendable performance despite his age, The Rock won. The symbolic baton was passed on to a new legend. Indeed a historic moment!
The Rock and Austin's battle at WrestleMania 17
Two of the most popular WWE stars headlined WrestleMania 17 as they locked horns for the Championship. The stage was set to create history and they didn't disappoint. Neckbreakers and Rockbottoms followed, stunners were dished out at will. It seemed a never ending epic match till the greatest shock was pulled by McMahon, who sided with Austin to team up and defeat The Rock.
