Pique hits out at Messi as the two fall out
According to reports, long-time Barcelona team-mates and friends, Leo Messi and Gerard Pique have fallen out with each other. Pique has accused Messi of not speaking to the media during tough times. On the other hand, Messi pointed out the defensive weaknesses in the Barcelona squad. The two, who have been friends since their youth academy days, have won numerous titles together.
What have the two friends accused each other of?
Pique has accused Messi of not facing the media as the first captain of Barcelona. He also said that Messi only speaks up when he is in Argentina. Not happy with the team's performance, the Little Magician pointed out that Barcelona's defense is not offering the team the support that they should and are conceding way too many goals this term.
Barcelona have not been performing consistently of late
Barcelona have been poor in their last three matches, losing one and drawing the other two. They drew 2-2 against Girona and shockingly lost to Leganes with a scoreline of 2-1, before again drawing with Athletic Bilbao. It can be presumed that this recent run of dismal performances has had a negative effect on the dressing room and is the reason behind the fallout.
The two legends have won numerous titles together
Messi and Pique are two Barcelona legends and have seen the club's most glorious years from close quarters. The two have won three Champions Leagues together (2008-09, 2010-11, and 2014-15) and also seven La Liga titles (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2012-13, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18). They have been Barcelona's core members and childhood friends, and will surely make it up for the greater good.
