Team India asked to shower for less than 2 minutes
The Indian Cricket Team has been asked to time their baths in Cape Town. Every member has been asked not to spend more than two minutes in the shower. It is one of the water conservation messages passed onto the Indian team, who love to spend time in the shower post the training sessions. Here's more about this 'weird request'.
Water scarcity in Cape Town turns into a crisis
The dry winters of Cape Town has raised an alarm in the city with the underwater levels dipping to low levels. The dam water has also been shrinking thus enforcing crisis level 6 water restrictions in the city. Local media claims, with the current water crisis in Cape Town, come April all taps will run dry and the city may end up waterless.
South Africa to prepare challenging wickets for India
The Indian cricket team is set to take on South Africa in the first test on the 5th of January. Ahead of the high octane encounter at the Newlands in Cape Town, Cricket South Africa might make last minute changes to the pitch. SuperSport Park curator, Bryan Bloy from Centurion, has been flown down to assist Newlands curator Evan Flint in preparing the wicket.
Swing and bounce to test India
The pitch in Centurion is considered to be one of the liveliest wickets in South Africa and the architect behind it, is chief curator Bryan Bloy. Cricket South Africa wants to create wickets with side wards movement rather than just fast and bouncy wickets. They understand that the Indian cricket team struggles to adapt with these conditions on overseas tours.
Will India stand up to the challenge?
Reports also suggest that the current grounds-men at Cape Town were struggling to prepare the wickets for the big encounter especially with the current drought situation in the city. It will be interesting to see if Virat Kohli and his men, who currently dominate the sport, stand up to the challenge put forward by the number 2 team in the world.
